Our Story
My Best Friends Cafe began with a simple conviction: that the best food comes from treating every recipe as if you're making it for someone you care about. In McHenry, we've built our kitchen around that idea — slow-fermented breads, pastries laminated by hand, and a pantry shelf stocked with ingredients we'd proudly serve our own families.
Located on Oak Street, our cafe is more than a bakery. It's a gathering place where the smell of fresh sourdough meets a carefully selected collection of pantry staples, specialty coffees, and goods that make weeknight dinners feel a little more special.
We source locally whenever we can, bake in small batches throughout the day, and believe that the details — a perfectly crisp crust, the right amount of butter in a croissant, a jar of honey that tastes like its terroir — are what separate ordinary from unforgettable.
